The world is full of pressures. Pressure to be, look, feel a certain way. Pressure to do all the things and pressure to perform in a whole array of different arenas. Unfortunately Motherhood is not immune from this.
A lot of pressures are placed on a Mother’s shoulders but often though, we are the ones that are putting that pressure upon ourselves, based on what we think we “should” be doing.
Even something as beautiful and bright as the moon isn’t always full. We don’t always see it in it’s big, shining glory, every night. Do we make the moon feel guilty for this? Do we think it’s not performing or doing what it “should” be doing? No, we don’t. We accept that this is just how it is.
Now I know comparing ourselves to the moon might be seen as a stretch but I want this design to help you stop and think. Do you feel guilty if you stop and rest? Do you feel if you don’t do “all the things” you’re not a good Mum? Where are you adding unnecessary pressure on yourself?
Just like the moon we wax and wane in cycles. We may live a very modern life now but as women our bodies still follow a cycle, part of which includes a time to rest and heal, to have our pyjama days and recharge ourselves. I know that in the past I have not made rest a priority and pushed through, to the detriment of my health.
The moon isn’t always full and neither are we. We can’t always be full of energy, enthusiasm, motivation or at our best all of the time and that’s completely ok.
Please, today. Start being kind to yourself. Allow yourself the time you need to rest and recharge. By doing so you will have more moments where you shine at your best and brightest.
Even the moon isn’t always full. xx
